Microbiology

This course will study microorganisms in action, as agents of disease in ecological situations, and as tools for research in molecular biology, genetics, and biochemistry. Particular emphasis will be placed on new ideas
in the field. These will include recombinant DNA technology and molecular genetics.

Freshman are excluded. Primarily a course for Juniors and Seniors. Students who intend to take this course and the Chemistry 251, 252 sequence concurrently may enroll in this course with the permission of the
instructor. Sophomores who have taken Cell
Biology and Genetics in their freshman year may also enroll as long as they have had or are taking the CHEM251, 252 sequence.
