Intermediate American Sign Language I
LANG 290 FA

This course will give students who have mastered the basic elements of ASL the opportunity to expand their vocabulary and knowledge of grammar of American Sign Language. The course will include examination of current issues in Deaf culture and exploration of topics in the history and contemporary situation of ASL, but will focus on the acquisition of the language. Students will put their skills into practice through structured activities and conversations, exercises and drills, and will be encouraged to seek out opportunities and resources outside of the classroom. The lectures and activities in class will be accompanied by readings about different aspects of ASL.
