Arab World in the 20th Century
HIST 234 SP
This course surveys history, colonialism, culture and religion of the contemporary Arabic-speaking countries. Emphasis is on current problems: women's rights, the Arab-Israeli conflict, Westernization versus Islam. The
course will include discussion of two contemporary Arabic novels and two Arab films.
