Plato on Love: Symposium and Phaedrus
GRK 293 SP
An exploration of Plato¿s vision of love through a reading of the dialogues SYMPOSIUM and PHAEDRUS. We shall read most of the SYMPOSIUM in Greek, and as much of the PHAEDRUS in Greek as time allows. Remaining parts of
the
dialogues will be read in English. In addition to becoming familiar and comfortable with Plato¿s prose style and further improving Greek reading ability, we shall read several works of scholarly criticism on the
dialogues.
