German Critical Theory: From Kant to Habermas
GOVT 351 FA
This course will approach Habermas's critical theory of society and politics by studying its intellectual background and development.
MAJOR READINGS
Major readings will come from Kant, Hegel, Marx, Weber, Lukacs, Horkheimer, and Habermas.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Graded seminar presentation, short paper, major research paper.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Prerequisite: Previous course in Political Theory or Philosophy, or permission of instructor.
