Latin American Contemporary Short Stories
FIST 282 FA
The course is designed to introduce students to the contemporary short-story genre in Latin America. Through close reading of representative writers from Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and Uruguay, we will analyze
different modes of literary representation (realism, magical realism and the fantastic) and their connection with the historical, cultural and social context.

Two short written reports (3-4 pages); one final paper (5-6 pages, approximately). Oral presentation in class is extremely important.
