A research seminar focusing on the renaissance of American writing in the 1950s and its relation to political, social and cultural developments.

Baldwin, Bellow, Lowell, O'Hara, O'Connor, Malamud, Plath, Roth, Berryman, Ellison, Updike, Keroac, Ginsberg, Burroughs
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Midterm, final, 20-page research paper and related assignments.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
This will be a reading and writing intensive course with a substantial workload.
