Biography
ENGL 303 FA
This course focuses on biography as a mode of knowledge as well as an art form. The emphasis varies from year to year, sometimes focusing on family biography (biographical portraits of family members), sometimes on
literary
biography (biographical work about writers), depending on the interests of course participants and instructor. This year's course will focus on literary biography. Students will be helped to conceptualize, research,
and
write a 30 pg. piece of biographical criticism of a writer of their choice. Format will be that of a seminar combined with a writing workshop. Research paper required.
