Sacred Monsters
ENGL 229 FA
A few writers from the Third World have achieved great stature in the first; in fact, they have become "Sacred Monsters." This course will focus on writers like Salman Rushdie, V.S. Naipaul, C.L.R. James, and Aimé
Césaire.
In addition to discussing their major works, this class will explore the question of literary canonization, through the writings of major literary theorists.
