American Dance History
DANC 375 FA
This course presents a structuralist survey of approaches to western concert dance from the Middle Ages to the present. Particular emphasis is placed on the orientation to dance of various choreographers--how dance is
conceived,
how it is presented and the nature of the choreographer's role. Projects both written and choreographed are required.

Research paper, reviews of dance concerts, dance compositions.
