Seminar in Music for Dance
DANC 254 FA

This course is a hands-on exploration of the music and dance relationship and is intended to develop both skills and understanding. Studio components include improvisation and composition in music making and dancing with an emphasis on experimentation. Academic components include historical overview, concert attendance and current dance CD-ROM resources. Software for sound design will also be taught through computer lab time and individual projects.

MAJOR READINGS

Mostly Web readings and CD-Roms.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Assignments include academic studies and creative projects.

Team taught by composer Richard Schenk and choregrapher Ann Livingston Schenk.
Permission of Instructor: See Department Chair for enrollment. Interested students should also go to the first class with drop/add form and speak with Professor Schenk at that time.
