This class presents an introduction to diversity of natural communities, patterns and processes in the distribution and abundance of species, relationships of organisms with their physical and biological environments, population dynamics and regulation, interactions among species, flow of nutrients and energy in ecosystems, and conservation of biodiversity.

One midterm examination, one library research paper, a field project (individually or 2-3 students may work together) and a final exam.
