Academic Year 2003/2004
The Lives of Primates
ANTH 103 FA
Many of the characteristics that we see as unique to humans are shared with other primates (apes, monkeys, and prosimians) and have their origins in our evolutionary past. This course will explore the basic behaviors
that
make up the daily lives of primates, focusing on activities such as social interaction (including dominance relations, alliance formation, and grooming), reproduction, diet, locomotion, and communication. The
similarities
and differences among humans and other primates will also be examined.
