Magazines have been the lifeblood of American popular culture: they are relentlessly contemporary (dated, usually issued weekly or monthly). No other print publication has dealt so immediately and didactically with
cultural materials.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Project Course; teams of five do class sessions trying to sum up a given magazine; digital slides. Paper 5-10 p, final examination.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
The class will form into five groups of four members each. After the first five (A 1-5) the makeup of the groups are changed (B 1-5) so that by the end each student will have worked with each other member of the course
in one of his/her groups. All
groups will choose and prepare presentations (featuring written handouts, projected visual material, lecture or discussion). Magazines will be chosen for availability in Olin Library and national significance.
