Crosslistings: ENGL 282 |
What is theory? What is the relation of feminism and theory? These large questions will be addressed in this course, which will focus on contemporary developments in feminist theory. We will consider how feminist theorists have understood the significance of sexual difference and will discuss how feminism is articulated with theories of representation, subjectivity, and history. In the process, we will attend to how difference, and differences, works conceptually and politically, paying parti cular attention to the complex relations of gender, racial, and class differences.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
