This course is intended for first-year students who plan to be involved in the theater program. It is aimed to provide a common frame of reference in the frequently revived plays, from the ancient Greeks to the present. Approximately 30 plays will be read; scenes from many of them will be read aloud in class time, and a certain amount of time will be devoted to lecture about and discussion of the works considered. There will be assignments in writing for and about theater.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
