Russian Drama

We will read classic works of 19th- and 20th-century Russian drama and select one for comprehensive study and production.

MAJOR READINGS

The selected play and literature related to it and its author and his/her time.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

No examinations; Production of a play. Students do one written assignment, keep an informal personal journal, and are judged on speaking/acting/directing achievements, production work, and cooperation within the group.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

This course will be bi-lingual. Readings will be in either Russian and English, depending on the student's preparation, and the production will mix languages.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
