Social Cognition
PSYC 330 SP

Social cognition refers to knowledge about social relations, social objects, and social institutions. Over the last decade, the field of social cognition has flourished in the areas of developmental, experimental and social psychology. In this course, the focus of interest will be on social cognition with respect to four areas: conceptions of others (person perception); the ability to take the view of another (role taking); conceptions of interpersonal relations (friendship); and moral judgments.

MAJOR READINGS

Journal articles and book chapters in social psychology, developmental psychology, philosophy and anthropology.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Two papers, a class presentation, and weekly questions.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
