Special Studies in Contemporary Music

This course will closely examine specific topics in Twentieth Century music, including serialism, indeterminacy, minimalism, improvisation and the exploration of acoustic phenomena. Special attention will be given to
issues raised in the Boulez-Cage
correspondence of the 1950's.
