Javanese Gamelan--Beginners
MUSC 451 SP

Instruction in the performance of orchestral music of Central Java. Various levels of difficulty are represented in the playing techniques of different instruments, mainly tuned gongs and metallophones. Previous formal music instruction is not necessary. Students should not preregister for this course. Interested students should attend the first class with a Drop/Add slip.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

There will be reading and listening assignments, a recital and a short paper.

By interview. The date of interview will be announced. Students will not preregister for this course. Interested students should attend the first class with a Drop/Add slip.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
