South Indian Music--Kanjira

Learn fundamentals of technique and study the formation of phrases with combinations of strokes. This course may be taken concurrently with solkattu. Individual classes supplemented by a weekly group section.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Regular practice of lessons. Memorization of technical exercises and rhythmic compositions.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

Strict attendance is compulsory. Preference will be given to continuing students, then to music department graduate students and music majors, particularly those specializing in percussion.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
