Ebony Singers: Gospel Music
MUSC 400 SP
The Ebony Singers will be a study of black religious music through the media of performance. The areas of study will consist of traditional gospel, contemporary gospel, spirituals and hymns in the black tradition. The
members of the group will be
chosen through a rigorous audition (with certain voice qualities and characteristics.)
MAJOR READINGS
Scores of music performed.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Rigorous practice of music to be performed is required.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Students must audition to be admitted to this course. Each participant must audition and be accepted as a part of the ensemble. Auditions will be held at the first class, in room 003, Rehearsal Hall. The participants
must have a quality voice, a
melodic vocal sound and the ability to read music. Spring '02, closed to all new students. Only continuing students may preregister.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed
Drop/Add form to the Registrar's
Office.
