Electroacoustic Music
MUSC 295 FA

Topics covered in this course in the techniques of electronic music and sound recording include musique concrete, sound sampling, mixing, and multitrack recording. Class work includes the realization of weekly one-minute projects in the electronic music studio and two major compositions. Discussions will center around student projects and selected works by other composers. The course also provides access to the Music Department recording studio.

MAJOR READINGS

A packet of articles will be distributed through a copy center.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Three major projects. Presentation of completed works in a public concert.

Admission by interview.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
