PREREQUISITES: MB&B208
This course is designed to familiarize students with current research techniques in molecular biology and biochemistry. For the most part, E.coli and the budding yeast S. cerevisiae will
serve as model organisms. Topics
to be covered will include the analysis of mutant yeast strains, cloning by complementation, linkage analysis, protein purification and recombinant DNA analysis. This course may be taken concurrently with MB&B208. It
provides a broad knowledge of
laboratory techniques valuable for independent research at the undergraduate level (MB&B401 and 402) and beyond.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
