Multivariable Calculus
MATH 222 FA
This is a course on the differential and integral calculus of functions of several real variables. Among the areas covered are scalar- and vector-valued functions of several variables and their derivatives; chain rule;
maxima, minima and saddle points;
Lagrange's multipliers; integration of functions of several variables; Green's theorem; surface integrals; Stokes's theorem; divergence theorem. This course will have special emphasis on developing geometric intuition.

- The course has no prerequisite. However, knowledge of calculus equivalent to MATH121 and MATH122 or equivalent to achievement of 4 or 5 on an AP calculus exam is expected.
- Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a
completed Drop/Add form to the
Registrar's Office.
