Research Seminar in the American Civil War
HIST 355 SP

In addition to a survey of the better recent literature on the war, students will produce a paper based on research in primary documents. (Students who have taken HIST155 may take HIST355 for credit. Satisfactory completion of the seminar paper will satisfy the department's research requirement.)

Two short papers and a longer research paper.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

Utilization of databases such as the contained in the "Great American History Machine" will be encouraged. Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's office.
