American Jewish History

Jewish and Israel Studies

This course will begin with a survey text on the history of Jews in the U.S. from the 17th century to recent times and a survey of Jews in France since the Revolution of 1789 for comparison. We will then concentrate on several aspects of the subject- immigrations, political radicalism, intellectuals, and Zionism.

Write three research essays, each approximately 8-15 pp, weekly 1-2 pp. papers, and help lead discussions.
