Transition in East Europe
GOVT 277 SP

This is an advanced seminar for students who are already familiar with the history of East Europe. We will explore the problems of building democracy in these societies and in particular, will study the dynamics of the privatization process in Poland, Hungary and Czechoslovakia.

Three class presentations (20% each) one research paper (40%).

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
