The Cold War
GOVT 273 SP

This course will analyze the 40-year rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union that brought the world to the brink of nuclear annihilation. Topics to be covered include the logic of nuclear deterrence; superpower competition for client states in the Third World; and the way that the Cold War structured the economies, political systems and ideological outlook of the two sides.
