In what ways does "race" matter to urban policy? How can we assess the importance of "race" without overlooking other possibly important factors -- such as economic inequalities, fiscal constraints, bureaucratic inefficiencies and flawed understanding of policy issues? This course explores these questions through consideration of theoretical approaches and empirical cases. It aims at enhancing skills in policy analysis and in theorizing "race" as well as developing knowledge of specific urban policy issues.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
