Production and Performance of a German Play
GERM 334 SP

This course entails intensive study of a play from the German repertoire, followed by production. If possible, students interested in the project should inform the German Department during the preceding fall semester. All aspects of the production, including direction, will be in the hands of the participants.

MAJOR READINGS

The play and literature related to it and its author and his/her time.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

No examinations; two or three short papers in German; students are judged on speaking/acting/directing achievements, production work, reliability and cooperation within the group. An informal personal journal will be kept by each participant.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

Performances will take place in April, with a demanding rehearsal schedule during the preceding two weeks. Within a week after the performance, the course will be over. First informal meeting will be held near the end of the fall semester. For information see the instructor.
