The Antiliberal Imagination

This course investigates the often antagonistic relations between 20th-century American literature and the evolution of American liberalism.

MAJOR READINGS

Reading in history, political theory, and major twentieth-century American lit.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Two exams, a final research essay, and weekly position papers.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

This course meets the English department's theory requirement.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
