Modern Poetry

Twentieth-century British and American poetry is studied.

MAJOR READINGS

Selected poems of Hopkins, Hardy, Yeats, Pound, Williams, Eliot, Stevens, cummings, Lawrence, Auden, Thomas, Jarrell, Lowell, Ginsberg, Sexton, Rich, O'Hara, Heaney, Wilbur, Ammons, Gunn, Hughes, Plath, Hill, and others.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Two papers and a class presentation.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
