Experiments in Poetry
ENGL 170 SP
This class will focus primarily on student writing generated from weekly assignments. In addition, we will read and discuss a wide variety of poetry and poetic issues related to experimental/avant-garde movements of the
19th, 20th, and 21st centuries.
Attention will also be paid to the excitements and challenges of pursuing a life in poetry today.

Weekly writing and reading assignments; active participation in workshop and final projects.

This is a drop/add course. Please submit up to ten pages of poetry (or poetic prose, if you haven't written much poetry) to Sheila Kelleher, English Dept. Secretary, 285 Court St., Middletown CT, 06459-0100 by January
10, 2001. Please include a cover
sheet with your name, phone number, email, box number, year, probable major, and any other information you think pertinent.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed
Drop/Add form to the Registrar's
Office.
