Finding a Voice
ENGL 105 SP

This course offers practice in various forms of nonfiction, including interviews, profiles, autobiography and critical essays.

MAJOR READINGS

Contemporary nonfiction including pieces by George Orwell, Joan Didion, Studs Terkel, Maxine Hong Kingston, William Finnegan, and Annie Dillard.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Weekly writing exercises.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

To apply for admission to the course, fill out the information sheet available at Anne Greene's Office, 279 Court Street, room 203. No writing sample is required. This course is only open to first year students.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
