Introduction to GIS
E&ES 322 SP

This course provides students with the basic concepts and principles essential in applying geographic information systems (GIS) to practical project development in the natural sciences and social sciences. GIS involves the storage, searching, manipulation, display, and analysis of data with a spatial component. Topics covered in the course include data collection and input, data structures, data quality issues, visualization, spatial analysis and modeling, and application areas. Students will be required to develop GIS projects that provide them with valuable experience in project development, design, and implementation.
