Economics and Politics of the Middle East
ECON 228 SP

A two-part ecomomic review of political and economic conditions of the Middle Eastern countries. The first part addresses the important aspects of political and economic development, such as democratization, modernization, economic development and market reforms for the entire region. In the second part, the political economics of major countries in the region are studied individually.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Two short papers, 5-8 pages; one long research paper, 20-25 pages; final exam.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
