Public Finance (Lower Level)
ECON 222 SP
This course examines the economics of the public sector. It considers both the reasons for the effects of government intervention in market economies. It is an analysis of the economic efficiency, equity,
stabilization, and growth effects of government
policies. The topics covered include public expenditures, social insurance, taxes, and intergovernmental fiscal relations. Special emphasis is devoted to the public choice theories of government decision-making, and
the empirical evidences on
government programs and growth.

Students who have completed ECON312 may not receive credit for ECON222.
