A general introduction to economic analysis and its applications for public policy. The course examines the forces of supply and demand in competitive markets, the determinants of the level of economic activity, and the causes of unemployment and inflation. Attention is focused on the way in which monetary policy, tax policy, and the level of government spending influence aggregate economic activity.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
