Shakespeare and Elizabethan Tragedy
COL 230 SP
This course is a study of Shakespearean tragedy in the context of the work of other major English tragedians of the Elizabethan and early Jacobean eras, such as Kyd, Webster, Marlowe, Tourneur, and so on, and of
contemporary theories of tragedy.
Attention will be given to stagecraft as well as to close textual study.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Probably three papers, 5-10 pages in length.

This course counts toward the English Department's pre-1800 requirement. Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be
dropped from the class list. NOTE:
Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
