In this advanced course that stresses current areas of research in evolutionary biology, topics include the evidence for evolution, the nature of variation,
adaptive and random evolutionary
processes in natural populations, mechanisms of speciation, reconstruction of the history of life through the use of DNA sequence data, coevolution of plant-animal and host-parasite interactions, and the application of
evolutionary principles to conservat
ion biology.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
