About 40 major planets and thousands of minor planets and moons are now known to exist in our galaxy. Starting with the nearby ones, including the Earth, Moon, Mars, and Venus, we will study the history of discovery, structure and evolution of these objects. This will include a wealth of new information available from NASA missions. The course will also cover planets and preplanetary structures that have been discovered outside of our solar system, as well as the search for intelligent life elsewhe re in the universe.
