The Prehistory of the North American Continent
ANTH 268 FA

Crosslistings:
ARCP 268

At the end of the Pleistocene, people accustomed to living in subarctic conditions in Siberia crossed the Bering Straight and found an uninhabited hemisphere of temperate and tropical climates. Over the next 12,000+ years populations diversified into, and thrived in, a range of environments--the last great experiment in human adaptation. This course will follow that process as it unfolded across the continent of North America, starting with the early Paleoindians and culminating with the rise of complex civilizations in Mesoamerica.
