Starting with Frances Ellen Watkins Harper in 1859 and moving through the literary histories of the U.S., Africa,
and the Caribbean to contemporary times, we shall explore the short story through close readings using
a variety of
critical
approaches including structuralism, post-structuralism, historicism, and post-colonialism.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
