The Experience of the Country and the City in Latin American Literature
SPAN 256 SP
What forms of representation, what ideological and literary problems are intertwined with the two different realities and forms of human organization implicit in the country and the city as concepts? How are they
mediated and transformed in the process
of text production? Readings will include the different literary genres and anthropological, historical and sociological texts that will contribute to an interdisciplinary perspective.

Two papers, oral presentations, take-home exam.

SPAN256 is intended for students who have completed SPAN226. Students who have not done so should consult with the professor before preregistering.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed
