Sociology and Social Theory

This course will critically examine the writings of the major social theorists whose views have influenced modern sociological thought. Beginning with the classic writings of Marx, Durkheim, and Weber, the course will
then consider subsequent,
including contemporary, theories of class, race, gender, the capitalist world-system and post-modernity.
