This is a discussion seminar in the analysis and practice of theological and religious writing. Classic and contemporary models of God will be studies in biblical and subsequent Christian traditions. Personal and social models of God as Being, Creator, Savior, Liberator, etc., will be explored. Attention will be given to ways in which formative genres such as stories, letters, autobiographies, and treatises shape images and concepts of God. After study and analysis, of accomplished religious and theological writings, students will also be expected to essay their own. This course does not count as a "Critical" course for the department major.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
