Psychology and Religion: Comparative Mystical Consciousness

The seminar will examine closely some major mystical texts and examine how they reveal different forms of mystical consciousness. The discourses of psychology and anthropology will be used to assess these states of
cognition.

7 short papers (3 pages each), take-home final. This course fulfills a "Critical Disciplines" departmental requirement. Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the
instructor prior to the first
class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
