Laboratory in Biological Rhythms
PSYC 386 SP

This course will expose students to hands-on biological rhythms and sleep research in humans. Students will work collectively on a laboratory project and will learn techniques in data collection and analysis of physiological measures, including electroencephalogram (EEG) and core body temperature in controlled conditions.

MAJOR READINGS

Journal articles and book chapters.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

One final paper written in journal style based on the research project. Severl drafts of the research paper will be required.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

This is a practicum course in the Neuroscience and Comparative area. Students are required to collect empirical data in the laboratory. Because of the nature of the experimental studies, some evening sessions may be required.

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
