Social and Moral Development
PSYC 335 FA

The aim of this course will be to cover theory and research on social and moral development. Lecture and discussion will pertain to how different research perspectives have defined morality, explained the origins and acquisition of moral and social norms and accounted for the nature of change in development.

MAJOR READINGS

Articles by Freud, Piaget, Kohlberg, Skinner, Turiel and Damon.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Two essay exams and a term paper.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

Writing intensive course. It will offer students the opportunity to develop their writing skills and to work with writing tutors trained at the Writing Workshop
